What is Easy Trakker? Easy Trakker represents a much needed addition for many companies that ship products via commercial delivery services (UPS, FedEx, AirBorne or Postal) Easy Trakker feeds the shipper's software program and retrieves the tracking number and shipment costs either upon completion of the shipment or at the end of the day. The human factor is reduced to weighing the package and pressing the ship button. Once the shipping information has been received and pulled back into the accounting system, the invoice will contain the tracking number and the shipping charges when printed. If you know you are shipping to a residential customer, their customer record can be coded to indicate residential for shipping which will reduce additional billing from the carrier for residential delivery. The program requires NO modification to the accounting source code. Changes required: The sales order, picking ticket, or invoice form must have a function added and a bar code (supplied with the program). The order number is bar coded and becomes the reference number in the shipper's software. How does Easy Trakker work? Sales representative receives the order and enters it into the accounting system. During entry, a user definable hot key can be activated to select one of many shippers and their respective service levels (Ground, Next Day, etc.) and any special shipper options such as COD or third party bill.
An order filler in the warehouse retrieves the requested items and boxes the order. The shipping department puts the box on the scale and scans the barcode on the order form. The shipping screen is then filled with the shipping information from the order. The shipment is then processed in the shipper's software (usually by just clicking the 'Ship' button if done in UPS WorldShip). Depending on how you configured Easy Trakker, the tracking number and/or the shipping costs are either posted immediately back to the accounting module or when the shipping department does their normal End-of-Day process in the shippers software. When the invoice is printed, the tracking number is on the bottom of the invoice. That's all there is to using the software. Its been designed to be very user friendly. Special options are available if you print the invoice before you actually ship the package. This was done to handle all possible shipping scenarios. Default settings can be activated to handle residential customers and emailing the customer with shippers that offer that function. UPS is one shipper that will email a customer when a package is shipped to them.
